Merchandise Hosts / Hostess

 

Quick Job Facts

As a Merchandise Host/Hostess, you will:

  • Set-up and sell merchandise in mixed and mobile retail locations onboard ship and Castaway Cay
  • Clean merchandise locations continuously
  • Stock shelves regularly to ensure full displays
  • Ensure a clean, efficient, neatly organized stock room
  • Maintain the crew store
 

The Ideal Candidate is Someone Who...

has two years recent experience in a retail or sales setting, knowledge of duty-free sales and a strong desire to exceed Guest expectations and sales goals.
 

Schedule

  • Work at least 70 hours per week, 9-11 hours per day, during 6-month contract
  • May request up to 24 hours additional overtime per week, average 10-14
  • Have time off before, during or after shift, but no days off
  • You will be subject to random alcohol/drug testing.

You will be subject to random alcohol/drug testing. Deliver excellent service nightly to 35-40 Guests, split between 2 fine dining seatings.

 

A Day in The Life

8:15am :: 8:45am Breakfast in the Crew Mess
8:50am :: 12:00pm Clock-in, Team Meeting, Open Shop
12:00pm :: 1:00pm Lunch Break
1:00pm :: 5:00pm Maintain Shop Cleanliness & Sell Merchandise
5:00pm :: 6:00pm Dinner Break
6:00pm :: 8:00pm Prep for and Restock after Show Dump
8:00pm :: 12:00am Maintain Shop Cleanliness & Sell Merchandise
12:00am :: 12:45am Close Shop (for example!)
 

Pay Day

You will earn a weekly salary competitive in the cruise industry and be paid in US dollars every other week. Overtime is paid at an hourly rate for all hours worked over 70 and not exceeding 94. While on contract, DCL will provide medical care, disability and death benefits as well as joining and subsequent flights.
 

Home Sweet Home

You will share a small yet functional cabin with 1 or 2 additional Crew Members (of the same gender) possibly from another culture. Cabins are complete with a TV/ DVD player, wireless Internet at a reduced rate, a personal lockable storage space and beverage cooler. Phone service is available in cabin, in port and via a pre-paid cellular service. DCL provides room, board and meals.
 

When You're Not Working

While you will not have a whole day off, you will have time off during your day to rest or have a little fun – email family/friends, hang out at the Crew Deck or Crew Beach on Castaway Cay, join a soccer or volleyball game or explore a port of call.
